21 September 2013: Pentyrch Rangers V Butetown

 Pentyrch Rangers 1 V 6 Butetown

The Games against Butetown are always tough, but with the recruitment of six of last season's double winning St Albans team, Pentyrch knew today's match was going to be even tougher.  And so it proved.  Last season, Butetown invariably scored plenty of goals, but also conceded plenty.  This season, ex-Buns Tyrone Lewis, Joe Evans and Arron Owen have added defensive skill and know-how to the Butetown defence.  Not only are they difficult to break down, they are adept at launching counter attacks.  And with Butetown having always had plenty of pace in their attack they were very difficult to contain.
But for the first 30 minutes Pentyrch matched the new look Butetown.   Things looked promising having taken a  1 - 0 lead on 15 minutes when George launched a huge downfield kick.  A Butetown defender misjudged his clearance and Sam was immediately on to it and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper.  This was the signal for Butetown to launch attack after attack, which eventually paid off in the 23rd minute when they got their equaliser.  Again Pentyrch matched Butetown, but two quick goals in the 32nd and 34th minute saw them take a 3 -1 lead into half-time.
In the second half, when Butetown scored within two minutes of the restart and Pentyrch heads went down.  With Butetown now playing with confidence they added to their tally, scoring further goals in the 55th and 77th minute.
