Pentyrch Rangers 2 V 1 Caerau Ely
The first half of the game saw Pentyrch playing fluent football that was a treat to watch. Just the one goal lead going in to half-time seemed poor reward for the quality and hard work underpinning the team performance. Credit needs to go to Caerau who were well-organised defensively. And when Pentyrch did get through the Caerau goalie brought off a number of excellent saves.
The first Pentyrch goal on
32 minutes came from Tom Evans playing a ball down the left to Callum
whose shot was parried away by the goalie. But only as far as Sam who
slotted the ball home.
At the beginning of the
second half Pentyrch again dominated possession and in the 48th minute a
precision through ball from Harry out of midfield released Callum who made no
mistake as he turned the ball past the goalie.
With the second goal,
Pentyrch relaxed and Caerau came more into the game. Their pressure paid off
and in the 72nd minute they pulled back a goal. With the score at 2 - 1 a
frantic last ten minutes followed, but Pentyrch saw at the game to take all
three points.
