Butetown 2 V 1 Pentyrch Rangers
A game in which Pentyrch should have come away with at least
a draw. For the first half Pentyrch
dominated play and if they had built more than a one goal lead at half time
might well have come away as winners.
Pentyrch took the lead in the 9th minute when Tom A
attacked down the right before sliding a diagonal ball through to Callum, who
took on one defender before pushing the ball across the penalty box to
Will. As the goalie came across to
cover, Will sighted the far right of the goal and sent his shot across the
face of the goal to put Pentyrch 1-0 up.
Butetown had a chance to draw level on the 32nd
minute when they were awarded a penalty, but their shot hit the cross bar and
Pentyrch cleared. Having survived this scare, Pentyrch had a couple of opportunities to put the game out of Butetown's reach by half time, but good fortune was being shared equally between the teams today.
So, at half time the score remained Butetown 0 V 1 Pentyrch
Rangers
Six minutes into the second half and Butetown got
themselves back into the game. Louis
Rodrigues crossed an inch-perfect ball into the Pentyrch penalty area for striker Umar Qasim to head home and draw level. Having pulled back a goal,
Butetown sustained most of the pressure in the second half and with the game in
added time-on, it was again Louis
Rodrigues who delivered an inch-perfect free-kick just in front of the left
hand post. And again Omar Qasim slotted home for what turned out to be the winning
goal.
